School Mapping Project – Event Poster Design

As well as working with Newall Green Primary School and designing a map of their local assets, I was asked to design the offical poster for the main event. It has been a wonderful experience working on this project and I am pleased to say I will be working as an illustrator on the next School Mapping project 2021. Stay tuned!

“A huge thank-you Faye from all at
Wythenshawe Waste Warriors for your
fantastic and hugely appreciated original artwork and poster. This piece perfectly reflects our event and we feel you have exactly captured the essence of
Wythenshawe’s ‘Garden City’ with the green branches
cascading overhead.
Your impressions of Wythenshawe Hall and the Cromwell
statue are first class and we feel honoured to be associated with your work Thanks a million”

Newall Green Primary School – Workshop

In partnership with Wythenshawe Waste Warriors & Cllr Mary Monaghan

My role within this project exercised myself as an artist and designer. Designing a detailed map, a promotional poster and working with Cllr Mary Monaghan at Newall Green Primary School; guiding a mapping workshop of their local area.

Guiding mapping workshop at Newall Green Primary School

This session focused on developing an outline of their green spaces and local assets. we used a range of images from google maps, drawing a large scale outline of their school, local shops, roads, parks and trees. The children were wonderful to work with, very creative and clever. Once we had a basic outline on A2 paper, I took it with me to digitise and develop on Photoshop.

NGM MAP

I had a great time working with the year 6 class. We were able to develop a wonderful outline that was very accurate. Lots of the class were excited about finding their homes on the map, in this spirit I decided to involve a green house to symbolise some of their homes.

Finalised map

“We are all so grateful for Faye’s involvement in this project. Her artistic eye and expertise has been tremendous and the pupils of Newall Green have benefitted first hand from her workshop and talent.

The asset map Faye has produced is the perfect template for our digitised map of Wythenshawe and those looking at it will instantly understand what our aims are. This work will inspire others to add their logos on other schools maps to inform pupils and residents of their local assets. Faye has also produced a stunning body of work illustrating local historic buildings and monuments which she has compiled to create a colouring book. Faye has kindly offered sets of these images for one lucky school to win as a prize. Thank-you Faye! “

Now-Forever Heritage – Competition

On the 21st of Jan 2019, I had a wonderful experience of presenting to the judges at NFHCIC. I was confident in my product, and was pleasantly suprised when I was awarded first place for my first illustraion book “A Journey through Northenden Village”

(Now-Forever Heritage “Village by the River” Competition, sponsored by Bergin Estate Agents)

Since presenting to the judges, I have been working with the Lead Project Co-ordinator, Stephen Evans on developing illustrations for a historic guide-book around Northenden.

Assisting Art Workshops at Village 135

29th June 2019

The residents at Village 135 were a delight to teach and incredibly talented. Here I assisted fine artist and portrait painter, Emma Knowles on conducting a lesson on self portaits. All individuals were excited about their artistic progress and showed me pieces they’ve made over their time here, this can be seen below. I was very impressed by their abilities and passion, I was excited to visit again for another session.

27th August 2019

This lesson focused on landscape and place, exploring areas and scenery to draw on inspiration. I enjoyed sparking their creativity, encouraging them to focus on mundane scenes, finding beauty within ordinary places. Some worked from the nature out front of the buidling, some from their rooms and kitchen while others found photography from their travels. I mostly enjoyed getting to know everyone, they were a lovely group with great talent and a brilliant sense of humour.
