My role within this project exercised myself as an artist and designer. Designing a detailed map, a promotional poster and working with Cllr Mary Monaghan at Newall Green Primary School; guiding a mapping workshop of their local area.

This session focused on developing an outline of their green spaces and local assets. we used a range of images from google maps, drawing a large scale outline of their school, local shops, roads, parks and trees. The children were wonderful to work with, very creative and clever. Once we had a basic outline on A2 paper, I took it with me to digitise and develop on Photoshop.
I had a great time working with the year 6 class. We were able to develop a wonderful outline that was very accurate. Lots of the class were excited about finding their homes on the map, in this spirit I decided to involve a green house to symbolise some of their homes.

The asset map Faye has produced is the perfect template for our digitised map of Wythenshawe and those looking at it will instantly understand what our aims are. Faye has also produced a stunning body of work illustrating local historic buildings and monuments which she has compiled to create a colouring book.
